10 Video Games You Only Like Because Everyone Else Does

1. Grand Theft Auto III

GTA III
Rockstar

GTA III is one of the most important video games in the history of the medium. Completely revitalising the open world genre by introducing gamers to a fully realised 3D city, the game pushed technological boundaries at the time while cementing the gangster series as one of gaming's biggest franchises.

But just because the game is important doesn't mean that it's any good, and the clunky combat and forgettable characters didn't do the title any favours. It's important, sure, but it's clearly a stepping stone onto something much bigger. As a result GTA III is more of a promise - a promise that Rockstar was finally able to fulfil with Vice City and San Andreas.

And that was back then - enjoying the game now is almost impossible. This third release was a brilliant way to spend a few hours messing around, flying cars over jumps and seeing how many pedestrians you could kill before being wasted by the cops - but the actual campaign missions (you know, the entire point of the title) were entirely forgettable.
