10 Ways Watch Dogs 2 Is Already Better Than The Original
5. Lighter Tone
Although topics like privacy invasion and corrupt political powers are quite serious, it's important to still have SOME lighthearted fun with it. The first Watch Dogs took on these issues with a serious perspective, but didn't dig deep enough into the issues discussed to make a profound and effective statement on what was at hand. Watch Dogs 2 looks ready to take on a critical look at the media and privacy invasion, while simultaneously having some goofy fun as well.
If WD2 can take more of a satiric look at these topics, then it'd be able to cut deeper into the social commentary that WD1 attempted to reach. Look at GTA V for reference, as they offered commentary on serious topics like torture and many other topics, but did so in a humorous and thought-provoking way.
With WD2's setting of San Francisco, the stage is set for a brighter (in both tone and setting) and more satirical examination of technology and media. If Ubisoft is willing to commit to this kind of angle, then Watch Dogs 2 can be remembered for its discussion-starting narrative, rather than for its wasted potential.
