10 Ways Watch Dogs 2 Is Already Better Than The Original
6. Multiple Means Of Mission Success
Looking at Watch Dogs 2's mission-to-mission gameplay. What stands out is how the developers have managed to add in not only verticality, but multiple different means of accomplishing each given task. The player can take out every enemy using only the their tech, going completely non-lethal, or even sticking with the well-tested method of guns blazing until enemies stop shooting.
WD1 certainly encouraged the use of hacking security cameras and using explosives, but the player would only be able to take out a specific number of enemies, leaving the rest unaffected. It was a reminder of how Ubisoft didn't commit enough to any single player style, as they just wanted to do a little bit of everything. With WD2's included ability to hack vehicles, use drones, RC cars and little bots that can interact with the environment, they've allowed players to complete objectives manually, and through technological means.
Mix that in with the previously mentioned enhanced verticality and improved gunplay to get a healthy amount of gameplay variety. Ubisoft seems to have taken the systems that were in place already and doubled down on them so that each warehouse or enemy hideout is a place ripe with potential calamity, explosions, and carnage.
