10 Weirdest Unlockable Characters In Wrestling Video Games
6. Yourself (WWF WrestleMania Challenge)
Long before wrestling video games had become sophisticated enough to utilize Create-A-Wrestler technology, developers were still aching to give gamers the option to insert themselves as playable characters. But without the technology in place to allow such creative customization, how could they make that happen?
The answer is stupidly simple, really: Create a sprite that resembled the most generic white jobber of all time, and call this insultingly vanilla character Yourself. As in, "This video game is so state-of-the-art that you can actually play as Yourself!"
To think that gamers in the early '90s would pass up the chance to play as Randy Savage or Andre the Giant in favor of a character with the blandest look and move set of all time was just absurd.
Couldn't they have waited a couple of years until the hardware would allow players to at least input their own name in the status bar to give this idea a try?
Apparently not. As such, too many gamers were likely tricked into selecting the character because they couldn't bare the thought of not giving Themselves a chance at wrestling immortality.
