10 Worst Games of 2012

7. Funky Barn

Hardly a game to be endorsed as one of the Wii-U's premiere launch titles, Funky Barn is a reminder that we should never be in a hurry to buy a new console, because a) you're going to get ripped off and b) the launch titles are largely average-to-terrible at best. Funky Barn models itself for the Harvest Moon audience, a strategy title that nevertheless can't justify the absurd asking price nor its status as a launch game for Nintendo's latest console. The goal of the game is modest and simple, to take dilapidated farm and make it functional again, using an array of quirky mechanisms that are, at least at first, somewhat amusing to behold. The problem is that there's nothing to it beyond this; the game looks terrible and doesn't really show off the Wii-U's capabilities at all aside from the touch-screen, so it doesn't even have the honour of being a laudable tech demo for the machine. It's simple, easy, and really just so freaking dull, such that I doubt even the kiddies would be entertained by it for more than 5 minutes. Having only the perfunctory presence of a Facebook Farmville-style rip-off, Funky Barn is a waste of time and money.
