10 Worst Games of 2012

6. Game of Thrones

It shouldn't be a surprise to see a game like this end up here, given how notoriously awful the vast majority of video game adaptations of TV shows and movies have been throughout the years. Though Telltale's The Walking Dead bucked the trend, the same unfortunately isn't true of Game of Thrones, which offers up a solid story but can't seem to deliver it in a way that even begins to approach the superbly cinematic style of the HBO show. The textures are dated, the animations are stiff, and worst of all, the voice acting is shocking; there's not much feeling put into it which, given that the game runs in at around 25-30 hours, really detracts from the experience in the long run. Again, the combat isn't terrible, but despite offering a lot of choice, the game really encourages the player to rinse and repeat the most useful commands, making it quickly feel repetitive and tiresome. Also, excruciatingly long load-screens don't help the experience in any way, all the more infuriating because I played the game with 8GB of RAM, and the game doesn't even look remotely good enough to justify these long loads. Well-intended, but an utter misfire nonetheless.
