10 Worst Licensed Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)
9. Avatar: The Last Airbender - Quest for Balance (2023)
Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the most beloved animated shows of all time - a masterful blend of Western storytelling and Eastern-inspired animation, rich in world-building, humour, emotional depth, and unforgettable characters (and no, we’re not talking about the movie or the live-action remake). So, how did this game manage to get none of that right?
Quest for Balance should’ve been a slam dunk: a retelling of Book One with elemental combat and co-op play. Instead, it delivers unresponsive combat, spammed puzzles, and camera controls so frustrating you’ll want to launch a fireball at your console. Characters resemble wax figures, dialogue sounds AI-generated, and the cutscenes... well, the less said, the better.
It certainly feels like a PS2-era tie-in that somehow arrived 15 years late. Worst of all, it completely squanders the emotional weight and spirit of the Avatar universe, offering little more than a shallow, low-budget recap of a story fans already know by heart.
For a franchise that deserved a triple-A treatment, this barely qualified as single-A.
