10 Worst Video Game Sequels Of ALL TIME

1. Bomberman: Act Zero

Bomberman: Act Zero perfectly exemplifies the mantra, “If it ain't broke, don’t fix it.” Even though Hudson Soft’s highly addictive series was renowned for its adorable aesthetic, the developers decided to set Bomberman: Act Zero in a dystopian world, giving everything a grimy, hyper-realistic design. This new look is so far removed from the source material, you'd assume Act Zero is a rip-off, not a continuation of the Bomberman series.

Being the devil’s advocate, Act Zero could get away with its gritty look if the gameplay was up to par. After all, it was the awesome level design and creative power-ups that defined the original series.

Sadly, this reboot couldn’t get anything right. The collision detection is dreadful, the AI is unbalanced, the loading times are unbearable, and the music is awful. Also… every level is the same! I don’t mean they’re similar. I mean… all the arenas are identical. Because there's no variety in matches, there’s nothing to motivate you from playing with your friends.

Although you have to commend Hudson Soft for trying something different, it’s easy to see why Bomberman: Act Zero is often hailed as the worst video game sequel of all time.
