10 Worst Video Games Of 2018

2. The Quiet Man

The Quiet Man
Square Enix

As embarrassing as Fallout 76 was coming from a major AAA publisher, you can at least see what they were going for.

The same can't be said, sadly, for The Quiet Man, a cinematic beat 'em up in the vein of The Bouncer which was quietly (heh) sneezed onto storefronts last month.

There is the basic seed of an interesting idea here - to experience an entire game from the perspective of a deaf man - yet the execution is so misguided and haphazard it's been earning justified comparisons to Tommy Wiseau's disasterpiece The Room.

From the cringe-worthy FMV cinematics to the inconsistent treatment of sound in the protagonist's world, the confusing plot, appalling camera and frustrating fighting mechanics, it's impossible to see what Square Enix saw in this one.

At least it bothered to be so-bad-it's-good, and though completing the game unlocks a New Game+ with all the audio restored, how many people truly hated themselves enough to play through this damn thing twice?

And in any other year, The Quiet Man would decisively take the gong for the very worst game of the last 12 months, but 2018 somehow managed to go one worse...
