In the Mass Effect series, the Asari race has a very unique approach to getting jiggy with it.

As well as physical intimacy, Asari bond mentally with their mate, enhancing the pleasure for both of them as they are perfectly in sync with one another.

For those who've experienced it, this form of sex in the ME universe is thought to the ultimate high.

Our hero, Commander Shepard, has ample opportunities throughout the first three games to bond with and potentially experience this with an Asari companion.

However, there's one Asari that isn't quite like the others.

Morinth is a rare type of Asari known as an Ardat-Yakshi; these mysterious beings are known throughout the galaxy for completely killing anyone who mates with them, and then absorbing their abilities and life experiences afterwards.

In Mass Effect 2, it's possible for Shepard to romance Morinth, which they are happy to do regardless of the potentially dire consequences. In the game's climax, if both Morinth and Shepard survive the Suicide Mission, Shep can choose to mate with Morinth, with her promising she believes it'll be possible for Shepard to survive as they are so strong willed.

Well...turns out that's not right. Shep and Morinth do the deed, and when they embrace eternity, Shepard's life force is literally sucked out of their body.
