100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil
45. RE2's Trial Version
Speaking of the RE2 trial, this is a neat piece of Resident Evil history that's full of really interesting changes from the final game if you're a total nerd for the sequel.
The biggest and most obvious is the route to the RPD. The demo starts where the final game does, with players escaping the flaming wreckage into Kendo's GunShop. However, rather than cut through the basketball court and around, the van that blocks the alleyway isn't there and Leon can simply head straight to the RPD's side-gate. Funnily enough, this is similar to the remake opening streets section.
In the RPD, there's a piece of leftover 1.5 music, a unique item in the "Precinct Key" and missing cutscenes. Additionally, the door with the broken hole in the bottom that Sherry squeezes under is in a slightly different place.
The demo also ends with Ada in the STARS office - probably less so an intent of story and more likely an intrigue factor to get players talking about the new character and interested to find out what happens next.
