Resident Evil might be a Japanese IP, developed largely by Japanese teams, but it's a franchise that has both of it's feet deeply in the USA. Ever since the original game, Biohazard has enthused about it's love America cinema, been largely set in America and has been developed in a way that makes it attractive on a global scale - not just catering to domestic audiences.

But even with all of that aside, it's quite remarkable that the first Resident Evil game to get a Japanese dub wasn't until January 2012's Revelations. The first 15 years of RE was all subbed in Japan with English audio until that point.

On top of that, RE6 - which released nine months later in October - shipped in the same state, and Japanese voice acting wasn't added to the game until a DLC update down the line.
