100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil
38. Hidden Details In Village
Continuing with studying weapons, Resident Evil Village has a couple of interesting details in and of itself.
The M1911 handgun is a commonly occurring firearm in all of media, let alone Resident Evil, but Village's is special in that it makes a rather unexpected nod back to the franchise's past. On the optional grip for the weapon is a crest with the "lure of a bee" key item from REmake, for unknown reasons.
Additionally, one of the game's most powerful weapons is the custom M1852 known as "Wolfsbane". Engraved along the barrel is the Latin phrase "Fiat Voluntas Tua" which, in English, is "Thy Will Be Done" - a phrase taken from the Lord's prayer that's perhaps fitting for fighting demonic entities.
There's also some fun details if you're paying attention to key items too. The item "Nichola's Goddess Statue" in Japan got translated to "Father Nichola's Angel" in English which might well be a fun reference to the 2007 comedy Hot Fuzz and Simon Pegg's character D.C. Nicholas Angel.
After all, Simon Pegg did once get so high playing Resident Evil 2 in the TV show Spaced that he thought he thought he was under attack from zombies...
