100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil
35. Europe Takes The L
Do Capcom hate Europe? The only time Biohazard released a game first in the region before the rest of the world and it was Resident Evil Gaiden, of all things - dropping several months before it came to Japan.
Well, "only" depends on your distinction. Resident Evil Survivor 2: Code: Veronica was first available in Japan in 2001 in arcades, complete with a unique cabinet. When it came to home release, not only did Europe get Survivor 2 for the PlayStation 2 before Japan, but America never got it at all.
And frankly, to say you're not missing much is an overstatement. Whilst Umbrella Corps is called the worst game in the series the majority of the time, that's simply because it's more well-known. Survivor 2 is an ugly, messy, rushed retelling of a classic story with most of that story missing, no voice-over, a short runtime, terrible controls and the random insertion of Nemesis in a way that makes absolutely no sense and doesn't even feel like the classic monster.
So basically, America weren't missing much.
