100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil
29. Wesker Is Still Alive
Except not in the timeline you think.
Arguably the video game universe has had a villainous vacuum since the downfall of Umbrella and Wesker, and it's tried multiple times to fill the space. One brazen attempt was Umbrella Corps, a game which around sixteen people played, which features files that imply the return of shady, sunglasses wearing overseer making his way into the ranks of the new Blue Umbrella.
Whether or not Capcom go through with reviving Wesker in the games is one thing, but he's still set up to return in the Andersonverse... if we ever go back there (please God no).
In Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the latest incarnation of Wesker is ultimately killed by a door (yes, seriously) and then presumably vaporised in an ensuing explosion.
However, the novelisation ends with - and there's no way to make this sound not utterly ludicrous - the sentiment blood of Wesker lying in wait miles underground, preparing it's revenge on the world.
Because this film is not utterly bats**t enough, apparently, the book had to add perhaps the most outrageously silly cliffhanger of them all.
