100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil
28. The Award For Consistency
With 30 years of history, it's not surprising that the likes of Chris Redfield and company have had many different voices over the generations. That said, there are three reoccurring characters who each have an actor with remarkable tenure.
The first is William Birkin's TJ Rotolo, who is the third man to take up the mantle of the paranoid scientist. Rotolo first appeared as Birkin in 2009's Darkside Chronicles and has voiced the character ever since. These include appearances in Operation: Raccoon City and, perhaps most strikingly, he's one of two actors to cross the threshold between pre and post-remakes when he voiced Birkin again in the 2019 version of Resident Evil 2.
This is also true of RE2's HUNK, portrayed by the legendary Keith Silverstein. He's the third man under the gas mask, but his time as HUNK stretches from 2007's Umbrella Chronicles through Darkside Chronicles, Mercenaries 3D, Operation: Raccoon City, both the Revelations games and finally returning once more in RE2R.
But the longest-serving actor is Salli Saffioti as Ingrid Hunnigan, who appeared way back in 2005's Resident Evil 4 and returned for RE6 and the CGI films Degeneration and Damnation. Even when Hunnigan was recast for RE4's remake, Saffioti got to play her again following this in 2023's Death Island film.
