100 Things You Never Knew About Resident Evil
93. Bullet Or Blade
One of the more universally celebrated aspects of the recent Resident Evil remakes has been Leon's characterisation. Where before his attitude changed quite harshly between RE2 and RE4, the remakes have allowed the Capcom team to write something that feels more consistent.
One of the many minor things that ties Resident Evil 4 remake to Leon's Worst First Day Ever in Raccoon City is his knife. In RE2, players get their first knife after they've been saved by wounded senior officer Marvin Branagh. Marvin gives Leon his knife and players probably forget about it. Leon, however, does not.
If one inspects the combat knife that players start with in Resident Evil 4 remake, the description reads:
"It has been Leon's go-to since receiving it during his time at the R.P.D."
Ergo, this is the same knife Marvin gave Leon six years ago. So basically, if you broke this knife using it to defend yourself in RE2, you broke the canon. Shame on you.
