11. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

As we saw with 2014's Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, when a development team with a love for a particular lore decides to take that universe and create something original, it can be pretty damn special. So too was Force Unleashed, set in between the two trilogies that saw the canonical revelation that Darth Vader actually had an immensely powerful protégé named Starkiller (forever a terrible name), who helped him thin the ranks of the Jedi following Episode III.

It was just an excuse to allow you to throw a huge number of things about using the titular Force - which was no bad thing - as in a move similar to older psychokinesis-powered titles Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and Second Sight, you were flicking enemy guards off walls whilst occasionally busting out the Force Lightning to toast any stragglers.

The big set-piece came from wrenching a Star Destroyer out of the sky with your bare hands - something that looked suitably phenomenal on the PR materials and helped make the first game stand out - which sadly isn't something you can say about the phoned-in DLC pack of a sequel.
