Bosses in Bloodborne can for the most part be divided into the categories of huge horrifying monstrosities and normal-sized human-esque enemies who rely on dodging, counter-attacks and speed to take you down (and take you down they shall). Vicar Amelia embodies the former type of boss. She is the archetypal Bloodborne beast - a vile hybrid between a mummified wolf and deer, emitting literally the most horrifying shrieks you've ever heard in a video game (though honorable mention goes out to Half life 2 headcrab zombies). Each punishing blow she throws is accompanied by these hellish multi-layered screams, doing a great job of distracting you as she attempts to stomp you into mush. Despite her oafish size, Amelia is fast and aggressive from the outset, so you can forget about simply running rings around her like you would against a big old Souls boss. She has several moves and combos that can decimate your health in a single hit, and your skills, patience and timing will be fully tested as you suss out exactly when to retaliate. This battle is Bloodborne at its most menacing and terrifying, which says a lot for a game that feels like one long nightmare (albeit one you kind of want to hang around in forever).
