11 Stages Of Grief Everyone Experiences After Buying PS VR

Stage 1: Praying it's not the Playstation Vita all over again.

The PlayStation VR is an incredible machine. Transporting you to vibrant worlds and expanding the core of regular games to make them even better and more immersive, the PSVR is an impressive piece of tech, and in the right hands with the right games, could convince anyone that the time for VR is well and truly now.

But as Sony's machine becomes even more difficult to find, their marketing presence seemingly disappearing entirely and the studio heads shutting down dedicated virtual reality developers like the recently closed Guerrilla Cambridge, it hasn't been the easiest console launch for the company.

And as a result, us early adopters have been going through a lot of weird feelings lately in regards to being the first out the gate on this whole virtual reality thing.

In fact, I'm pretty sure everyone who picked up Sony's new headset over the past few months has gone through the exact same stages of grief in regards to the PSVR, moving from seemingly impossible highs to the sinking depths of good old fashioned buyer's remorse.

So, with that in mind I just want to spread the message:

You're not alone. I am Josh Brown, and I've had a difficult relationship with my PSVR, starting with...

Let's be clear: Putting on a PSVR for the first time is like having a religious experience. The reviews and the stories you've heard all do it justice - it really is a phenomenal piece of tech.

And those first few hours with the machine are particularly amazing. Manually reloading your handguns and swearing blind that you definitely, definitely felt someone's breath on your collar while playing through the excellent demo for Resident Evil 7, can give you some of the most memorable gaming experiences you'll ever have.

The first impressions the PSVR makes, are truly incredible.
