11 Terrible Video Game Collectibles That Were A Waste Of Time
7. Flags - Assassin's Creed
The first adventure into the AC universe was a brilliant taster to what the series had in store. The blend of sci-fi and historical storytelling facilitated an incredible adventure filled to the brim with brutal assassinations and swift climbing mechanics.
Unfortunately, the collectibles front is where Assassin's Creed seriously falls short of the mark. The 'Conversationalist' achievement, for example, involved having to talk to Lucy every time you exit the Animus. Missed the first one? Welp, you'll have to play the entire game from the beginning again.
But the most egregious candidate of them all was the flags scattered around the expansive open-world maps. There are 420 flags to collect. Trust me, the novelty of the number wears off after hours spent traversing the washed-out landscapes of the Holy Land. There's no checklist either, so you'll have to follow a guide to make sure you collect every last one of them.
But don't worry: this was the first edition of the franchise. I'm sure Ubisoft learnt their lesson after this terrible mistake, right?
...right?
