8. System Shock 3

Yes, you may have heard about another System Shock coming next year, but I'll wager you didn't know that it's being headed up by one Warren Spector, the legendary creative mind behind the original Deus Ex, Thief and, erm, Epic Mickey.

Turns out Spector's been away from the industry for three years, and following Ken Levine's departure from Irrational Games in favour of more Hollywood-centric projects, Warren has joined the relatively new Otherside Entertainment, who will be taking on the mantle of the System Shock series.

To any who aren't acquainted, System Shock 1 and 2 were very much the precursor to the Bioshock series, and so far we've only been given a couple of screenshots to mull over.

That said, with Spector's credentials, the eery, cerebrally-perplexing world of System Shock and an independent mindset throughout, means no big publisher needs can get in the way and System Shock 3 could turn into something mighty special.
