8. Cryo-Tubes - Dead Space 2

Though Dead Space 2 is frequently stated to be the Aliens to the original game's Alien, its ramped-up action doesn't stop it from delivering the best scare in the entire trilogy.

Ah, the Cryo-Morgue, an unsettling enough locale as it is, filled with tubes of frozen dead people, but it all ends up getting too much for poor Isaac, who briefly hallucinates the dead folk screaming out of their broken tubes as he walks through it.

The loud screeching and horrific imagery juxtaposed with the eerie quiet of the morgue makes this supremely unsettling, and surely left anyone who played it anxious for the rest of the sequence, fearful that it would happen again.
