12 Best Video Game Comebacks Of All Time

5. Agent 47 - Hitman (2016)

The Hitman series has always been relatively solid. Hitman: Codename 47, laid the foundation for a series that would become arguably one of the best - or at least the most fun - stealth games of all time. Players reveled in the countless ways you could off your targets. Often in such stupid, stupid...stupid, stupid ways.

However, the series took a slight nosedive in later years. Eventually culminating in Hitman: Absolution, where the levels became almost completely linear and almost all player choice was stripped away. Not only that, Agent 47 was forced into all out firefights that felt not only ill fitting to the character, but the game as a whole.

Then came along 2016's Hitman, and with all the familiar parts that made the series so much fun to begin with. IO Interactive gave us nice open playgrounds to run amok in and countless ways to go about executing 47's targets. IO also managed a perfect balancing act with Hitman.

Each mission was short enough that you could easily dip in for an hour or two after work and be done with it, but thanks to the plethora of assassination options you were always tempted back to the familiar maps. Bang for your buck, for sure.
