12 Gaming Predictions For The Rest Of 2017

3. Star Citizen Misses 2017

Star Citizen
Cloud Imperium Games

The Prediction: Shockingly, the hugely anticipated $150+ million crowdfunded sci-fi title will miss releasing in 2017.

Why It Will Happen: Because this game is ambitious on a scale like arguably nothing else in the history of gaming, and if Cloud Imperium Games pulls it off, then the constant delays and lack of concrete release information will totally have been worth it. But it's not coming any time soon.

Though the game is reportedly about to enter the "content" aspect of development now that the various complex gameplay systems have been developed, it's hard to imagine either Star Citizen or the single-player Squadron 42 component being ready for any sort of formal release within the next six months.

Why It Might Not: Director Chris Roberts claimed at the start of the year that Squadron 42 would be released sometime in 2017, and though it wouldn't be the first time someone in his position was wrong, that projected date still remains on the official Squadron 42 website.

The main Star Citizen game, though? No chance.
