7. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
Don't you think that with a brand-new, rebooted Lara Croft experience back in 2013, more people should be talking about it? It seemed like Crystal Dynamics' reworked and remastered Tomb Raider just came and went almost immediately, despite it being a downright fantastic game. Sure the building blocks that make up the Lara's latest adventure are very much in the vein of Uncharted, but the progression across the game that sees a younger, innocent 'Raider gradually get more accustomed to killing by way of specific weapon finishers and environmental interactions opens up a huge variety of level-paths along the way. The remastered PS4 version is spectacular as well, one of the only re-released games alongside GTA V to really look like a 'next gen' game, despite originating on older hardware. If you're drowning in the glut of first-person shooters and want a brilliantly-tight and mechanically fun third-person action adventure romp with a touch of signature personality and an awesome endgame callback, 2014's Definitive Edition is where it's at.
