12 Hugely Delayed Video Games (That Ended Up Sucking)
5. Wheelman
The Delay: Wheelman turned a lot of heads when it was first announced, because it starred Fast and the Furious beefcake Vin Diesel, in what would hopefully be a slick continuation of the sort of no-nonsense role he's best known for on the big screen. There was considerable outrage in the summer of 2007 when it was announced that Wheelman (then called The Wheelman) was going to slip to 2008, but the game simply couldn't hold a steady release date until it was penciled in for February 2009. Much like Gran Turismo 5, it then slapped gamers in the face once more by pushing that date back by a number of weeks (five in this case) to do some last-minute preening. The Result: Despite some decent visuals (namely Diesel's likeness) and rip-roaring sound effects, Wheelman just isn't much of a game at all. Using your vehicle as a weapon gets boring extremely fast, and the rubber-band racing mechanics are controller-throwingly annoying. Even when you get a gun, it barely livens things up: this game is simply far more dull than any game starring Vin Diesel should reasonably be. With a naff, forgettable story and laughably awful AI, this game quickly faded into obscurity.
