I love the new PS4 controller: it's easily the most sleek and ergonomic PS controller to date, as well as boasting the awesome new Share button, allowing players to capture video and images, and share them in a multitude of ways. The most bizarre addition, however, is the light bar on the back of the controller, which is used primarily for the PS4's camera peripheral, to distinguish between players when using local multiplayer, and also for various "status" conditions in games, such as turning red when you're killed in Killzone: Shadow Fall. But it's something of a gimmick that I'm not really convinced by, and not long after release, some clever techies discovered that with the light manually deactivated, the PS4 battery lasts significantly longer. For the small gains it offers, would it not make sense to offer a toggle option in the PS4's system menu? I, for one, have never made use of the light bar, and would gladly keep it off at all times, especially considering how short the battery life is, and the potential for it to provide glare depending on your TV set-up.
