12 Most Painfully Disappointing Video Game Boss Battles
1. Aurora Unit 313 - Metroid Prime 3
It starts with the name - Aurora Unit 313. A designation so forgettable you will likely have forgotten it five minutes after you have read this entry.
Then there's it's absurd, phallic design - it looks like someone stuck a metal headcrab on a giraffe's neck.
But more than that, it's how utterly forgettable the fight itself is. This is the finale of Metroid Prime! A series with some of the greatest boss battles in gaming history! Flaghra from MP 1, Quadraxis from MP 2, even Meta Ridley from earlier in MP 3. All great battles, and all one that provide moments that will live long in a gamer's memory.
But this? This was just a boring dust-up against a robot that looked like it was designed five minutes before deadline. It beggars belief that Retro Studios thought this would be a suitable way to end one of the greatest trilogies in videogames, and if Metroid Prime 4 ever comes out it will hopefully wash away the taste left by Aurora Unit 313 (hate that name) - gaming's most painfully disappointing boss battle.
