3. Metroid
Imagine one of the greatest female video game protagonists starring in a big budget CGI-fuelled epic in which she goes head-to-head with one of the most terrifying antagonists ever? That's what a Metroid film would promise: Samus Aran vs. Ridley. Missiles, robotic suits and a monstrous alien dragon with hyper-intelligence. It could be like Star Wars meets The Hobbit. Metroid, unless it was animated, would require a pretty large budget in order to avoid the huge pitfalls of making a sci-fi game adaptation... But get it right, and it could be absolutely spectacular. It's one of the Nintendo franchises that is practically custom-built for film. Casting Suggestion: Without wanting to typecast, Benedict Cumberbatch is already nailed on for the role of Ridley. He's shown he can do "intelligent menacing dragon creature" already. And Samus was practically designed to be played by the feisty Jennifer Lawrence. Likelihood: 8/10 Desirability: 10/10
