12 Obvious Reasons 2015’s Most Hyped Video Games Will Fail
12. Guitar Hero Live - The Presentation
Although you have to respect Guitar Hero Lives risky decision to break away from the series' conventions, not only changing the structure of the guitar controller to a new six button format, but also switching up the presentation with a move away from the cartoon aesthetic of previous GH titles, theres no denying that either of these changes could tank hopes for a franchise revival if they arent pulled off perfectly. But its the live audience feature that feels like the riskiest addition. Although its an interesting idea on paper, and the ability to see a crowd react to your perfect streaks or horrible failures could make for genuinely funny moments, the developers at Activision have a lot of work cut out for them if they want to make this visual style feel authentic and natural. Because if there isnt enough variation in the reactions of the crowd, the filming of each stage of the way each song changes with the venue, then the live gimmick is going to get real old, real fast. Plus, if the audience itself feels fake or hollow, with cringe-worthy chants or even motionless dead-eyed stares, Guitar Hero Live's chance of immersing the player into its world is going to crash and burn before the first note is even played.
