11. Need For Speed - It's Yet ANOTHER Passionless Reboot
In some ways, the Need For Speed series is a lot like the Sonic franchise. Each year a new game comes out and each year the popular racing game tries to reinvent itself to varying degrees of success. However, here's where the Sonic comparison really takes hold; no matter how good the latest Need For Speed game turns out to be, EA simply refuses to stick with what works, opting instead to change the base of the game with just about each new iteration. And the upcoming entry into the franchise, simply titled Need For Speed, is supposedly an attempt to combine all the best elements of each and every sub-series in the franchise. However, fans of the racer have heard this marketing talk before, because whether it was the reboot of Hot Pursuit or Most Wanted, or even last year's original Rivals, every new game so far has supposedly been an attempt to mix all the best elements of EA's flagship racer. So with all that history, it just becomes impossible to trust the publisher with sticking to one development philosophy going forward. As we've seen the series teeter back and forth between ideas - some admittedly better than others - no matter how good this year's entry is many people won't be surprised if yet another reboot is announced within the next year or two.
