Speaking of not ageing well... hoo boy.

Even back in 2015 - before the justifiable conversations surrounding female depictions in video games were at fever pitch - Quiet was embarrassing. Looking back now - and especially at that faux-striptease "Here's my butt!" pose she ends this animation with - it's literally just shameful.

See, Hideo Kojima wanted to explore the depictions of the female form when viewed through both a western and eastern cultural lens. He therefore justified Quiet being half-naked by... making her breathe through her skin? She just can't help being sexy, it's what societies do with women, man - she just wants to frolic in the rain.

And as for any dissections of the male gaze, they came from... having her stretch in front of you or dangle her boobs in your face. Because video games.
