12 Video Game Series That Are Crying Out For A Remake, Remaster Or New Entry
5. Front Mission
A franchise that may well have been buried by Left Alive, last year’s diabolical spinoff set in the same universe, Front Mission began life as a series of turn-based tactical RPGs focused on mech combat between hulking machines called Wanzers.
Unfortunately, the series transitioned into mobile games and a disappointing third-person mech shooter since its last PS2 outing, but before then offered incredible strategy and mech customisation - making the sudden shift all the more baffling.
Every bit the equal of a genre classic like Final Fantasy Tactics, Front Mission deserves a new entry that returns the franchise to its roots, especially after 2018’s Battletech proved that there is a market for mech-based strategy.
Imagine a turn-based strategy RPG with fully customisable mechs and battles that play out in short cutscenes. Players could even eject in the middle of a battle and continue fighting on foot to avoid being killed.
A truly underappreciated gem, we can only hope that Left Alive hasn't poisoned the Wanzer well.
