12 Video Games That Are Long Overdue Sequels

11. Advance Wars

The Advance Wars franchise, also known as Famicom Wars, is a series of games that's been around longer than you think, and has more entries than you realise.

Starting back in 1988 with Famicom Wars, this series of games has been exclusive to the Nintendo family of consoles ranging from the Famicom/NES all the way to the Nintendo DS. There were two Advance Wars games available for the Nintendo DS. First was Advance Wars: Dual Strike in 2005, followed three years later by Advance Wars: Dark Conflict in 2008. After that, absolute silence followed. 12 years without a peep from Nintendo.

This is surprising considering Advance Wars was a high watermark for turn based strategy games, and you just need to look at Metacritic for proof. Of the two Game Boy Advance games and the two Nintendo DS games that were released between 2001 and 2008, the lowest Metacritic score is 86 and the highest is 92.

The franchise was well reviewed, well loved, and in dire need of another game.
