4. Oculus DRM Locks Out HTC Vive Users

Oculus received enormous criticism earlier this year when they released some a DRM update which prevented HTC Vive users from playing Rift games. Less than a month after the web shared its collective outrage, Oculus quietly rolled out a patch that removed the DRM and allowed Vive users to hack their hardware to play Rift games.

Still, it was a huge PR blow for Oculus and has naturally made many gamers highly distrustful of them ever since.

They did the right thing, but they only did it because they upset so many people, who frankly were wanting to play their damn games anyway. What sense is there in building a "walled garden" around software, when there's little money to be made from the hardware anyway?
