14 Awesome-Sounding Video Game Sequels That Will Never Happen
3. Viewtiful Joe 3
Cult classic beat 'em up series Viewtiful Joe began life on the GameCube in 2003, and though it was hardly a meteoric seller despite strong reviews, its low budget enabled it to do well enough for a sequel to come out the very next year, again to impressive acclaim.
And though teases of Viewtiful Joe 3 began shortly after the second game hit stores, fans have been left waiting ever since.
Why It Will Never Happen: For starters, developer Clover Studio folded by 2007, and given Capcom's preference for AAA franchises that turn tidy profits, they didn't see much value in turning the Viewtiful Joe property over to a new team.
There have been occasional hints at a revival over the years, but unless it gets crowd-funded, it's just hard to see a franchise that's been absent for almost 15 years getting another shot.
