14 Fan-Made Sonic Games That Succeed Where Sega Failed

11. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Complete

In 1994, Sonic & Knuckles made waves by including the ability to snap another game on top of it's cartridge. Interlocking with Sonic 3 created a mega-game, featuring all the levels of both games in one seamless playthrough. Like peanut butter and chocolate, this mix creates one of the best games in the series history.

All the more impressive is that fan mods have turned the greatest into an even greater package. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Complete fixes countless bugs and tweaks visuals to a far more cohesive package, and even offers plenty of modification choices.

Not a fan of S&K's music? Play with S3's music instead. Think Tails got the short end of the stick? Try out the enhanced Tails mode. Want to see what Flying Battery Zone was like early in development? Prefer the classic Sonic 2 shields? What about an easy mode?

STH3: Complete has all of these features and more. It's almost inarguably the best way to replay one of Sega's all time greats.
