8. Mario Kart Tour

It might be the best-selling app in Nintendo history, but MK Tour also continued the company's truly terrible rollout of watered down mobile offerings.

From Fire Emblem: Heroes to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Tour also takes some of the most recognisable and easy-to-enjoy aspects of its bigger brethren, only to reduce gameplay down to mind-numbing nothingness.

Seriously, you have no idea how bad this thing controls. Besides progression being centred on opening loot boxes and hoping you can unlock Mario himself, neither the "one finger" or tilt options offer anywhere near enough depth to enjoy what's on screen.

And that's doubly terrible, because Mario Kart Tour looks amazing. It's everything you'd want from a mobile Mario Kart in theory, but done through a control scheme and progression system designed to numb you and take advantage of recurrent spending habits.
