7. Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 is every bit "more Crackdown" like we'd assumed for years beforehand, but that's a double-edged sword.

After going from platform leader; revealed at the launch of the Xbox One and destined to single-handedly pioneer "cloud processing technology", over the last 6 years, it felt like every new feature was slowly stripped away.

Besides cloud processing not being a thing in the end (Microsoft have ultimately hand-waved away explaining it at this point), the game's "ultimate destruction" was also paper thin.

Where things like Red Faction: Guerrilla or Control offer splintering parts of the environment and full-on destruction of property, Crackdown 3 lets you leave... cracks... in things... sometimes. Its "deformation tech" amounts to shattered glass, chunks of falling concrete and specific things collapsing if you're lucky, but not much more.

And lastly, the idea of shared chaos with friends - or the new deathmatch modes - are either stuttering messes, or feel pointless to play, as Crackdown's inbuilt lock-on combat removes any skill from the bouts themselves.

Even the last-minute addition of Terry Crews couldn't save this, and it leaves Crackdown 3 as yet another re-release of the original with meaningless upgrades.
