15 Best Disney Video Games
9. Gargoyles
After ploughing their efforts into movie tie-ins for much of the nineties, Disney Interactive took a breather and created a game around a lesser-seen Saturday morning cartoon.
Released in 1995 and based on the show of the same name, Gargoyles offered a blend of standard platforming action, Gothic cel-shaded graphics and a difficulty curve that made you want to keep swooping back for more. It had sleeper hit chiseled all over it.
But alas, timing wasn’t ideal for this game, with Disney’s attentions very much turned towards finishing up their work on the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo by way of their next project: a spec-busting Toy Story game adaptation.
With Gargoyles left somewhat in the shade, this paved the way for the Mouse House to get to work creating games for the recently unleashed PlayStation. Take nothing away from this game, though, it is one of Disney’s most offbeat offerings to date.
