8. World Of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse And Donald Duck

Before this game was released, the co-op gaming market was limited to side-scrolling fight fests in the likes of Alien Storm and Streets Of Rage. But that all changed when World Of Illusion floated onto shelves in 1992.

Playing as Mickey and Donald the game had no real story, it was just an excuse for a dream pair up in these Mouse House poster boys, both stuck in a magical realm. You can blame Pete for that.

Both characters have their own unique strengths and weaknesses - Mickey can squeeze through any gap, Donald can't due to his ample derriere - creating some unique situations where Mickey has to bail Donald out with a well dropped rope or, better still, tug him through a crevice to comic effect.

The game is kept interesting with an underwater and flying carpet level (what platformer would be without them?) and developers Sega AM7 painted the game in all the pretty colours seen in previous Disney motion pictures. It may not be the most taxing of platform romps, but World Of Illusion is a co-op adventure up there with the best of them.
