The RE Engine is a goddamn dream when it comes to delivering peak graphical fidelity. You can tell the engine was built with the next-gen in mind, as the three games which have used it so far (Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5) have been some of the best looking of the whole decade, but it's DMC 5 that stands out a touch more.

The other two titles are still stunning, but the demon-slaying bombast of that franchise really allows the engine to flex and show off what it's really capable of. The photorealism that defined the Resi games is still present in the character models and city environments, but it's blended with outrageous monster designs and demonic hellscapes that are so otherworldly and surreal.

The scale is obviously much larger as well, and as you jump around ruined cities fighting ungodly creatures and dive into the bowels of Hell, DMC 5 delivers an unmatched sense of spectacle that you want to marvel over as much as play.
