7. Kyrie Elesion

Assassin’s Creed: Rogue was one of the best games in the series, and did everything it wanted to do without overstaying its welcome. Rogue had emotion, impact and had the courage to actually depict a story with weight behind it. And one of the best moments in the game that exemplifies how it managed to do this, was the mission Kyrie Elesion.

Discovering an ancient precursor temple that holds the very earth together, Shay then must escape the burning, crumbling city of Lisbon. The panic and calibre of destruction is perfectly captured in what amounts to three minutes of intense gameplay. It captures the essence of the entire moment, bringing the player into one of the most intense sequences in the entire series.

It was perfectly designed and implemented. Managing to escape the city and looking back on the destruction that you managed to escape from has impact that the rest of the series lacks. Not to mention it’s one of the more interesting set pieces and parkour courses in the series.

It’s an insane moment, and well worth playing the game for.
