15 Best Open-World Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
7. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
With Mass Effect on the back-burner there's a bit of a lack of triple-A sci-fi games out there - but in the just the last few years we got a divisive trilogy-capper of that series' finale, and - far better - the return of Deus Ex for the first time in almost a decade. Developers Eidos brought their A-game, fleshing out a gorgeous black n' gold city of the future by portraying a humanity flourishing in the wake of biological augments, meaning mechanical limbs and architecture was everywhere, like an uber-shiny version of Blade Runner mixed with Mass Effect 2's Omega station. It wasn't necessarily the largest environment in gaming (especially by comparison to other games on this list), but if we can judge an open-world game by how much it draws you in, how well it portrays an entire civilisation of interweaving lives and scenarios, and just how convincing all that is to interact with - Human Revolution is absolutely outstanding.
