11. The Shepard Connection - Mass Effect Andromeda

Mass Effect Andromeda is by almost all accounts, an out n' out failure. Though, it does momentarily shine once you realise there are some direct connections to the original trilogy - and to Shepard's crew.

Hidden behind collectibles that unlock viewable memories seen through your father's eyes, it turns out that - being an N7 operative before the cross-galaxy jump - Alec was talking to Garrus' father Castis about his son and Shepard's investigation into the Reapers.

It reframes the Andromeda Initiative's mission as one more done out of desperation to escape the potentially world-ending threat, discusses a mysterious 'Benefactor' (who's almost definitely the Illusive Man), and gives us at least one painfully desired connection to the original games we loved so much.

Now, why couldn't this have been what Andromeda opened with proper?
