15 Football Manager Wonderkids Who Didn't Live Up To Expectations

1. Tonton Zola Moukoko

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6UM2AxmhR8 The single most iconic player to emerge from the virtual manager world is Tonton Zola Moukoko. Never has a 'must sign' label been more spectacularly fitting - his rise to prominence came in the Championship Manager 1999-2000 edition, where languishing with Derby County FC, he could be picked up for nothing and guarantee goals playing behind the front two. In reality, he was even linked with a move to AC Milan as a host of big clubs monitored his progress. Unfortunately, due to some off-field personal issues he never got his chance with County. Instead, he ended up moving on to spend the rest of his career knocking around the depths of Europe's league systems, never quite living up to his one-time stellar billing. It says a lot when you Google a professional sportsman's name and there are more results regaling his exploits on a virtual management game than his factual performances. What it does do though is illustrate why Tonton Zola Moukoko is the most iconic cult hero to have emerged from the franchise. It's a great shame he never managed to live up to his in-game exploits, but he will live long in the memories of many a fan for his virtual antics.
