15 Games That MUST Be On The PlayStation Classic

8. Spyro The Dragon

Ps1 Classic Feat
Sony

An Arthurian dragon with a Hellenic name, Spyro was a mish-mash of mythologies in the same way he was a potpourri of rival platform perfection. Insomniac's influences may have been readily apparent - the little purple firebreather was obviously trying out his best Mario 64 impression - but a lack of originality in concept did nothing to undermine the game's inherent charm.

Spyro's nothing earth-shattering, but its form of fairy tale flattery doesn't misplace a claw as it pushes PlayStation platformers fully into the third-dimension. The upcoming remasters of the entire trilogy probably puts this one on the shelf, but knowing Spyro fans, they'll bang the drum for its inclusion regardless.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
