15 Greatest Multiplayer Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

5. GTA V

GTA Online
Rockstar

Depending on who you talk to GTA: Online either made or broke GTA V. Taking precedent in many ways over the actual story campaign the series was usually known for, the online component of Rockstar's latest open world masterpiece has been improved on over the past three years to become one of the most varied and dense multiplayer experiences you can find on consoles.

Between roaming with friends in the game's massive open world to engaging in more focused races and deathmatches, Rockstar's record-breaking title shipped with an excellent suite of modes that everyone immediately sunk days of their life into.

And since then the developers have only increased the amount of things you can do in GTA Online. While some have been better than others (seriously, what was that CEO DLC that came out a few months ago?) it's impressive that not only have the developers continued to add so much to the game, but give it to players completely free of charge.

Although it might threaten to derail what audiences think of the franchise in the future, there's no doubting that GTA Online is one of the most encompassing multiplayer experiences of the past few years.
