5. Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition

One of the absolute best 2D platformers of all time, Rayman Legends' immaculately hand-drawn aesthetic is a joy to see and control in motion.

For the Switch, Ubisoft are iterating on the 2013 original by adding up to four player co-op (perfect for the Switch's controls) and touch gestures so it's easier to play on the go. There's also the truly brilliant Kung Foot soccer mode, where players attempt to boot a physics-dependant ball into the opposite goal, whilst defending their own by attacking other players.

The latter could make for one of the most subtly fun multiplayer options on the Switch overall, and being Rayman Legends is already a mighty fine package with immaculate levels, boss battles and music-themed bonus stages, it'll easily be one of the best 2D platformers on the system - right next to Shovel Knight, anyway.
